A live-out nanny is a non-exempt employee, so every hour over 40 in a single workweek is paid at 1.5× their regular rate — counted per workweek, never averaged across two weeks and never swapped for time off. A nanny at $25/hour who works 46 hours is owed (40 × $25) + (6 × $37.50) = $1,225 gross. Paypr shows weekly totals so you see the 40-hour line before you cross it. Paypr is a tracker, not payroll: it records hours, rates and payments and keeps the running balance, but it doesn't withhold taxes, file returns, issue W-2s or move money. Tax and filing duties depend on worker classification, wages and federal and state rules. Being below one threshold does not remove every obligation. Keep a dated log of each visit with the hours or flat fee, the rate, the amount paid and how you paid it, plus the cleaner's name and address. Record it as it happens rather than reconstructing later, and keep the records at least four years. If the cleaner is self-employed you generally file nothing — households don't normally issue a 1099 for personal services — but the log still protects you if the classification is ever questioned.
